Ashley Flores won 3rd place in the Moore Media Photography Contest for her tide pool photo taken during a Boys & Girls Club field trip for Photo Club. In addition to a $50 prize, her photo will be featured in this year’s Laguna Beach phone book. An independent panel of three judges selected the winning photos based on composition, photographic quality, originality, uniqueness, general interest, and appeal. Winners were interviewed on KX FM 93.5 Laguna Radio and photos of the students and their winning photo will appear in StuNewsLaguna.com. In honor of May being “Water Awareness Month,” club members designed artwork for the Roll out the Rain Barrel Art Contest through Laguna Beach Water District. Club Members Sydney Ford and Saige Evans both were selected to create their design on large rain barrels that will be on display at City Hall and throughout Laguna Beach stores. The Laguna Art Museum held the opening reception of the Pacific Regional Photo Exhibit displaying the winning pieces, this past weekend. Club staff member Eddie from Variety Boys & Girls Club in Los Angeles brought down his four Regional winners, along with Malibu Boys & Girls Club winner, and our Laguna Beach winner Lily. Club Members of all ages submitted artwork for local Gallery 1951 to be part of a silent auction event next weekend. All funds raised at the event will go towards building a well in Northern India. Our members put their hearts into creating beautiful masterpieces that will help fund a great cause. The main event will take place on Saturday May 4th from 12-5 and 6-9 PM at 1951 S. This past week, the Boys & Girls Club of Laguna Beach hosted the 2013 Pacific Regional ImageMakers Photography Exhibit. The judging took place in the Gym with three judges selecting the pieces to go on display at the Laguna Art Museum and move on to the National level. The judges included local photographers Mary Church, Tom Lamb, and Director of Sony Alpha Camera Systems Mike Kahn. The states with artwork in this years exhibit included California, Arizona, Utah, Nevada, Hawaii, and Washington. Regional winners will be on display in the Young Artsits Society Gallery at the Laguna Art Museum April 21st -May 19th. The reception and opening is on April 21st from 2:00-4:00 PM. On March 20th, the Club hosted the local ImageMakers Photo Exhibit at Main Branch. Families and Club Members from both TLC and Main Branch came out to celebrate the 900 amazing photos displayed in this annual exhibit. The special evening, dubbed “Family Fun Night,” included a recognition ceremony of first place winners, a Photo Club video premiere, free dinner, and a fun photo booth for the entire family. This exhibit will be on view through April 9th upstairs in the Community Room. READ MORE
