Club Events

After soaring high on a hot air balloon and kayaking in the Dana Point Harbor, The Adventure Club will have their last excursion next Thursday on an exhilarating ropes course! The challenge consists of climbing and repelling through a variety of obstacles. Their past adventures have also included tree climbing, a trip to the zoo and a ride on water bikes. Adventure Club is part of the Boys & Girls Club’s effort to encourage kids to live active and healthy lives. Each excursion encouraged members to expand their horizons and learn about themselves along the way. Most importantly, they had fun! READ MORE

Last week, six lucky club members explored the wonders of Channel Islands through the Santa Monica Mountains Institutes.Thirty members from three clubs were guided by naturalists on a four day expedition of the islands. Everyday they learned about local plants and animals, island history, and gained a new respect for nature. The kids took daily hikes for miles in search of wildlife. On the trip they spotted an Island Fox, dolphins, jelly fish,  elephant seals, humpback whales, a even blue whales. In addition, they got to go on a small boat deep into the longest cave in the world called the Painted Wall Cave. READ MORE

Last week a small group of TLC members had the opportunity to take a personalized tour of a local firestation. The kids got to experience first hand the typical day of a firefighter. It was a fun and informative trip, from seeing all the cool tools on their fire truck to learning every part of the firefighter’s suit. READ MORE

On Tuesday, June 8th, our TLC kindergarteners got to experience, first hand, the amazing Pacific Marine Mammal Center (PMMC). PMMC provides rescue and rehabilitation to injured, sick, or even lost marine mammals off the Coast of Orange County. We toured the facility and heard a story about Timtam, a baby sea lion that was separated from his mother during stormy weather, then rescued, rehabilitated and released back into the wild by PMMC.
