The Show titled “Milk and Cookies : Storytellers” was a wonderful event created from the collaboration of the Boys & Girls Club of Laguna Beach, a children’s boutique clothing brand Mini & Maximus, Art4T a local unique gallery, Active Ride Shop. Over the past month, Club Members have had the opportunity to explore their artistic community. Beyond the Box Club had the unique privileged of touring Fuse Digital Marketing headquarters for some career exploration. Photography Club went to ART4T Gallery to check out The Story Tellers Art Show. Members left both locations inspired and a little more knowledgeable about how art can shape future careers. READ MORE
More than 100 people came to see what their children do while in the caring hands of the TLC Staff. Parents were introduced to the techniques their kids learn during Image Makers Photography and were AMAZED at their pictures. They spoke with staff members and discussed the various programs we offer here at TLC. Natalie showcased the garden and Brennan talked about his Music Club and invited several Dads’ to “jam” with the kids some time. Everybody enjoyed a pasta dinner and homemade cookies. Those who couldn’t pull their child away from the TLC fun, stayed to play Parents vs. Kids Jeopardy. Parents put up a good fight, but the kids walked away victorious. On Thursday, November 17, the Woodard family traveled to Los Angeles for the long anticipated Fit Family Challenge Finale. This year’s Challenge helped five families from across the country incorporate principles of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s (BGCA) Triple Play program into their lives over a period of six weeks. Mario Lopez, BGCA alum and host of the nationally syndicated daily show EXTRA, crowned the Porter family, from Wisconsin, as the winners based on their ability to increase their physical activity, make healthier nutrition choices and spend more quality time together. The event celebrated the Challenge finalists and put them to one last test as each family completed a race of exercise, games and healthy eating. The winning family was awarded a healthy family vacation to Colorado Springs to visit the U.S. Olympic Training Facility in 2012. The other four families also received prizes, including Microsoft’s Xbox Kinect system. READ MORE
Club Members created unique one of a kind ornaments, which included used water bottles, ceramic self- portraits, and masterpieces painted on glass globes. The club’s community tree and all the festivities can be seen at Sawdust Winter Fantasy. READ MORE

Read More Here) On Saturday, November 5th, from 11 am- 6pm, the Boys & Girls Club of Laguna Beach partnered with their local Taco Bell for a fundraiser to support The Club’s Keystone Teen Leadership Program. A portion of the proceeds from each purchase went to the teens at the Boys & Girls Club to help them fundraise for the National Keystone Teen Leadership Conference. Keystone is a leadership development program with three focus areas: academic success & career community service and teen outreach. The teens got work experience behind the counter at the Taco Bell in Laguna Beach on PCH and even the chance to dress up in a taco costume and sauce packet costume to promote their fundraiser. They took orders, practiced their customer service skills, and helped maintain the restaurant. “It was awesome. I felt important when I was helping,” said Amanda Jeffress, a teen that regularly attends The Club. READ MORE
Talented young artists from the club had their pieces displayed in the two cities that we serve . Over 40 club members had an opening reception for their artwork on display at Susi Q Community Center in Laguna Beach. This special evening recognized these talented young artists with beautiful pieces of art that will be on display in the exhibit Reflections of Growth until mid Decemeber. In addition, 16 members had photos from Photography Club on display in the new Soka University Performing Arts Center for the special Sate of the City Address celebrating the 10 year anniversary of Aliso Viejo.
