Halloween at the Club began with ghosts made out of sheets and giant trash bag spiders, suspended above members heads as they entered the building. Festivities included the annual  limbo parade followed by a costume contest with great prizes. A group even went on a “Zombie Walk” to some local businesses to received healthy treats. Back at the club members made skeletons out of q-tips and painted pumpkins into masterpieces to make this Halloween a special and memorable day at the Boys & Girls Club! READ MORE

On Monday October 24, 2011 garden club members got the opportunity to cook with Meggan, a Laguna Arts Culinary Institute student. Meggan made healthy pizzas and banana cream parfaits with the members. Each member was given a whole wheat pita, tomato sauce, low-fat cheese, turkey pepperoni, bell peppers and onions to choose from. Everyone had fun choosing their own toppings and creating their own pizzas before enjoying their warm snack. READ MORE

On Monday Oct 10th, Garden Club took a field trip to Whole Foods. Melissa, “the produce lady,” gave the members a tour of the store and the back of the house where all the produce is delivered daily. Members learned about organically grown produce and the benefits of eating locally while sampling organic smoothies, grapes, heirloom tomatoes, and apples. READ MORE

Last week club members who signed up for the new creative program Beyond the Box, got a chance to reflect on what music really is, what genre they prefer, as well as just being exposed to a variety of sounds. This week they will be tackling creating their own musical track on the computer and then dive into dance appreciation as well as movie making. This program gives members a chance to be exposed and inspired by new creative ways to express themselves through the use of technology. READ MORE

The Boys & Girls Club of Laguna Beach Main Branch broke its record for summer attendance! The percentage of youth attending the club this summer was up by 12%, demonstrating the impact that the club has had on the community. Over the past three months, club members were engaged in a variety of enriching summer programs and had a whole lot of fun at the Club. READ MORE
