Members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Laguna Beach were treated to a very special and exciting experience, tailored specifically to teach young people about the precious ocean. Once the “visiting classroom” arrived, the oceanic learning adventure began with a brief talk about the moon and how it affects the tides, and also information about how the trash affects the ocean and the tide pools. The instructors brought taxidermy replicas of a baby shark, a sea turtle, and even a shark jaw. They also brought examples of the sea life they will find in the local tide pools, such as sea urchins and sea stars. The children were encouraged to touch the animals and examine their differences and similarities as they learned through hands-on activities. This experience was made possible by the generosity of the Hearts of Montage, a philanthropic program at the Montage Resort and Spa. READ MORE
