After soaring high on a hot air balloon and kayaking in the Dana Point Harbor, The Adventure Club will have their last excursion next Thursday on an exhilarating ropes course! The challenge consists of climbing and repelling through a variety of obstacles. Their past adventures have also included tree climbing, a trip to the zoo and a ride on water bikes. Adventure Club is part of the Boys & Girls Club’s effort to encourage kids to live active and healthy lives. This summer members have all helped grow a beautiful garden filled with squash, corn, eggplants, cucumbers, green beans, tomatoes, and more! Every day during lunchtime members grab a watering can and tend to their garden as they learn about growing their own vegetables to eat. READ MORE
The Club is offering exciting art related field trips this summer. The club recently visited the local Laguna Art Museum and then strolled to the park to watch the surfers and eat a snack. Last week, six lucky club members explored the wonders of Channel Islands through the Santa Monica Mountains Institutes.Thirty members from three clubs were guided by naturalists on a four day expedition of the islands. Everyday they learned about local plants and animals, island history, and gained a new respect for nature. The kids took daily hikes for miles in search of wildlife. On the trip they spotted an Island Fox, dolphins, jelly fish, elephant seals, humpback whales, a even blue whales. In addition, they got to go on a small boat deep into the longest cave in the world called the Painted Wall Cave. READ MORE
