About the Art Program
These engaging programs help foster young people’s creativity, confidence and capability to contribute to the world. These creative experiences help youth expand their personal understanding of themselves and compassion for others.
The Art Studio, which is the site of most of the art programs at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Laguna Beach, is a light hearted and creative environment for members to explore a wide variety of art mediums. This diversity of programs is offered to provide a well rounded art curriculum. The activities that take place are structured on Discipline-Based Art Education, which teaches art activities focusing on Art History, Criticism/Analysis and Aesthetics while learning new techniques as well as encouraging creative interpretation.

Fine Arts Club – All Ages (Weekly – 2 1/2 hr. Classes)
Members explore painting, drawing, printmaking, pastels and more as they are encouraged to create their own masterpieces! The classes are based on the process of art as opposed to the product, providing an opportunity to develop technique and creative exploration. Classes are medium and technique centered with the purpose of perfecting the creation of art to achieve personal goals and satisfaction. Participants can explore various mediums, styles, and purposes within a single class. Guest artists and fieldtrips to local museums, galleries, and performances are available for members to participate in throughout the year. Classes culminate with a local exhibition of their artwork, juried by three local artists, and submission in a National Boys & Girls Club art competition in January.

Sculpture/3D Art Club – All Ages (Weekly- 2 1/2 hr. Classes)

Sculpture projects give member’s hands on experience and guided lessons on techniques with real clay, paper Mache, plaster, recycled materials and much more. The art studio provides and environment for members to explore these mediums without having to worry about making a mess! Classes culminate with a local exhibition of their artwork, juried by three local artists, and submission in a National Boys & Girls Club art competition in January.

Photo/Outdoor Art Club – Ages 7½ and Up (Weekly – 2 1/2 hr. Classes)

Classes focus on creativity and encourage individuality. Members also get a chance to manipulate their cameras and learn about alternative processes. Outdoor Art is another exciting component to Photography Club giving club members a chance to create art by observing what they see through painting and drawing classes out in the open air in some of the exciting locations they usually just photograph. Photography and Outdoor Art Classes will alternate weekly.
