The Boys & Girls Club of Laguna Beach (BGCLB) is calling on the community to help complete the Bluebird Beautification Project, a significant renovation initiative aimed at enhancing safety and improving the overall experience for children who attend the Club’s Bluebird Branch.
The Bluebird Branch has been a part of the Laguna Beach community since the 1950s and serves as a safe, welcoming space for local youth. While fundraising efforts have already secured over $219,505 through donations, pledges, and in-kind contributions, an additional $74,000 is still needed to fully fund the project.
A Much-Needed Transformation
The Bluebird Beautification Project is a response to the facility’s aging infrastructure, ensuring it remains a safe and engaging environment for children. The renovation plan includes:
- Exterior Upgrades to enhance durability, safety, efficiency, and security
- An interior redesign focused on creating a calming and wellness-oriented space for children.
Project management is being led by DaVita, which is leveraging its vendor relationships to secure discounted and donated services. Pure Design/Design with Purpose is spearheading the interior renovations, ensuring the space is designed to support youth development. AGI has been contracted for exterior improvements.
Demolition is scheduled to begin March 31, 2025, with construction expected to take three to four weeks, pending city permits.
Community Support Needed
BGCLB is asking individuals, businesses, and organizations to help close the remaining funding gap through:
- Tax-deductible donations at Campaign to Gain – Bluebird Beautification Project (donors should include “Building” in the comment section).
- Employer match or corporate grant programs to maximize contributions.
- Community-led fundraisers such as bake sales, social media campaigns, and other local events.
- Spreading awareness by sharing the initiative with friends, family, alumni and colleagues.
Impact on Local Youth
The Bluebird Branch serves an average of 84 children daily and has 232 total members, making these renovations essential to maintaining a safe, inspiring, and functional space for youth development.
“The Bluebird Beautification Project is a vital investment in the future of local children,” said Pam Estes, CEO of BGCLB. “This renovation will provide a safer, more engaging environment for kids to learn and grow, and we are grateful for the community’s continued support in making this vision a reality.”
